OCS Board


Board of Directors

The Odyssey Charter School Board is a volunteer position typically filled by teachers and parents of students of OCS as well as business professionals from throughout our community. Meeting monthly through the school year, the Board of Directors oversees business decisions, future planning for the school, and adherence to the school’s mission and vision. The Board seeks out and accepts applications from capable individuals within the school and community when filling vacancies. Initial term of office is typically one year with an additional three years during re-election to the Board to help get a working overview of school activities, needs and directions. Leslie Maloney, President Educator/Community Member, Term: 2024-2027

Ms. Maloney, a Palm Bay resident, has a Master’s degree in Applied Sociology from the University of Central Florida and holds a Florida Teaching Certificate in Social Studies 6-12. Ms. Maloney has worked as a teacher, program developer, adjunct instructor, and has developed challenging college level curriculum for AP/AICE Psychology, and Intro to Sociology. She played an active role as an original Odyssey Board member back in its inception. Ms. Maloney has been a Board member since May 2014.

Andy Ziegler, Vice President Community Member, Term: 2024-2027

Mr. Ziegler has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and was elected to the Brevard County School Board in 2008 and served for 10 years. He is a Palm Bay Rotarian of 30 years and has held board positions including President in 1997. His primary expertise by career is as Network Specialist. Mr. Ziegler is a current member of numerous Boards of Directors including the Melbourne Regional Chamber of Commerce, AmiKids, Central Florida Boy Scouts advisory committee, and past Chair of Central Florida Public School Board Coalition. Mr. Ziegler is was also instrumental in paving the way for the Children’s Hunger Project to operate through public schools and continues as an advisor. Mr. Ziegler has been a Board member since January 2019.

Conrado Martinez,Treasurer Community Member, Term: 2022-2025

Mr. Martinez has a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management with a Specialization in Public Administration. Mr. Martinez is currently a financial advisor/mortgage loan originator. He is an experienced and influential businessperson who has a heart for bridging the private sector with schools for the express benefit of young people. Mr. Martinez serves the community as a Board member of the Melbourne Regional Chamber of Commerce, Vice President of Tied Together, a Board member of Brevard Citizens for Better Schools, and a specialized mentor for at risk youth. Mr. Martinez has been a Board member since December 2020.

Amber Miller, Secretary Community Member, Term: 2021-2024

Ms. Miller has a Bachelor’s degree in Fine/Studio Arts. Ms. Miller is currently the director of digital learning and development. She has former experience as a Training Specialist at Ford Motor Company, and a Director of Marketing, a Social Media Specialist and Merchandise Coordinator/Trainer at Walt Disney World. Ms. Miller has been a Board member since November 2019.

Chandler Langevin, Board Member Community Member, Term: 2023-2024

Langevin served 10 years active duty in the United States Navy. During his active service, Mr. Langevin served as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman, conducting two overseas military operations before completing his military service in 2022. He presently serves as the leader of Florida Scouts and volunteers his services to work with numerous youths from our schools and within the community. Mr. Langevin has been a Board member since May 2023.


Board Meetings

The Board of Directors oversees business decisions, future planning for the school, and adherence to the school’s mission and vision. Regular meetings are normally held four times per fiscal year at 4:30 p.m. Special meetings may be scheduled as needed by the Board within 24 hours notice. All meetings are open to the public and abide by Florida Sunshine Law.

BOARD MEETINGS CALENDAR

Individuals or groups wishing to address the Board at any meeting should arrive prior to the meeting and sign-up on the Public Comment form. Public comment will be limited to three minutes. Concerns will not be addressed at the Board meeting. All concerns will be addressed in writing in a timely manner.

Sensory and mobility impaired persons seeking assistance for participation in any meeting should contact the School Principal.

Anyone who would like a copy of a Board document must complete a public records request form located in the school’s office.
